33 MotoSports Park is kicking off the official competition season in a big way with a Grand Opening race event this weekend, May 19-20. Gates open at 6:00 a.m. and races start at 9:30 a.m.

The new complex welcomed its first riders with a successful free practice day on May 5, and will be open every weekend to October. The Grand Opening celebration is the first of 15 race events scheduled for 2012. In addition to the race lineup, 56 practice days are on the calendar, including all Tuesdays and Thursdays during July and August.

With its three tracks, hilltop and trackside viewing areas, concessions, free Wi-Fi, and covered viewing/dining facilities, 33MotoSports Park is already on its way to becoming a favorite among riders and fans alike. Nestled in the rolling hills of the beautiful Huron National Forest, this unique 80-acre park has been developed as a family-friendly racing complex for motorcycles, quads, UTVs and snowmobiles.

Grand Opening Race Weekend is expected to draw riders of all ages and experience levels, as well as fans ranging from die-hards to first-timers. Eagle Radio Rock 101.5 FM of Gaylord, Michigan, will be on hand broadcasting live from the Park on Saturday.

To complement the on-track excitement, a new Yamaha YZ250F motocross bike will be awarded to a lucky rider at the end of the season. Racer entry tickets will be collected throughout the summer, and a single ticket will be drawn to determine the winner. The more races a rider runs, the better their chance of winning.

Based on the Park?s opening practice weekend, the Grand Opening Race Weekend should be quite the celebration, according to owner John Gusler. ?We?ve been thrilled with the great turnout and support so far,? he said. ?People have been having a blast, and I think they?re chomping at the bit for our first race weekend.?

As a longtime racer himself, 33MotoSports Park?s general manager, Dave Hassell, has been charged with exceeding riders? expectations. ?The initial feedback has been extremely positive,? said Hassell. ?We?ve had a number of seasoned riders out here, and they can?t stop smiling.?

One of those smiles belonged to Nathan Balog from Hillman, Michigan, who was beaming when he said, ?I?m looking forward to those big jumps.?

The two and a half hour trip from Richmond, Michigan, was well worth it, according to rider Matt Michon. ?The track looks amazing right now,? said Michon. ?It?s a lot bigger than I thought it would be.?
